The Thorpe Island transforms the functional kitchen island into a piece of architectural furniture.

Defined by an extraordinary faceted exterior, Thorpe is sculpted as a continuous composition of angular planes that catch and release light across its presentation façade. Above, a substantial natural-stone worktop appears to float over a precisely detailed aged-champagne-brass reveal, introducing a fine metallic line between the monumental stone and cabinetry below.

The reverse reveals Thorpe's functional character. Four generously proportioned drawers and four concealed-storage cabinets are integrated discreetly into the working side, providing practical kitchen storage without compromising the sculptural integrity of the piece. Slender aged-champagne-brass drawer pulls provide a restrained jewelry-like detail, while the lower cabinets remain completely handleless. A gentle press releases each door through a concealed push-to-open mechanism, with premium soft-close hardware providing controlled and quiet closure.

Available in Noir, Tobacco and Ivory, each edition has been individually composed rather than simply recolored. Noir pairs dramatic natural stone with ebonized timber; Tobacco introduces richly finished natural walnut; and Ivory combines luminous warm-ivory stone with finely finished cabinetry closely color-matched to the surrounding stone.

Made to order and individually finished, The Thorpe is conceived for kitchens in which the island occupies a central architectural role—equally considered from its working and presentation sides.

Architectural Exterior

The presentation façade is formed as a sculptural sequence of broad faceted planes, creating changing areas of light and shadow across the island. Natural-stone and timber elements are individually selected and fabricated according to the chosen edition.

Natural-Stone Worktop

A substantial natural-stone worktop crowns the composition. Slabs are individually selected for tone, mineral movement and overall balance. Natural variations in veining, fissures, coloration and mineral deposits are inherent characteristics of genuine stone and ensure no two Thorpe Islands are identical.

Aged Champagne Brass

A continuous aged-champagne-brass architectural reveal separates the worktop from the body below, creating the appearance of a subtly suspended stone surface. Drawer pulls are finished to coordinate.

Integrated Working-Side Cabinetry

Four upper drawers provide readily accessible storage and operate on premium soft-close undermount runners. Slender aged-champagne-brass pulls maintain the restrained architectural character of the island.

Four large lower cabinets provide additional concealed storage. The doors are intentionally handleless and fitted with concealed push-to-open mechanisms. A gentle press releases the door for access, while concealed soft-close hinges provide controlled, quiet closure.

Cabinet Construction

Working-side cabinetry is constructed using furniture-grade engineered cabinet cores selected for dimensional stability and faced or finished according to the selected Thorpe edition.

Tobacco features hand-selected natural walnut veneer with a deep tobacco finish. Noir uses an ebonized timber treatment. Ivory cabinetry receives a refined furniture finish developed to coordinate closely with the adjacent warm-ivory natural stone.

The Thorpe Island is made to order with an estimated production period of 28–30 weeks following final material selection, approved shop drawings and receipt of the required payment.

Due to its scale, weight and natural-stone construction, Thorpe is transported in specially prepared protective components or crates by specialist freight.

Freight, insurance in transit, customs duties, local taxes, off-loading, crane or lifting equipment where required, site storage, assembly, stone setting, plumbing, electrical work and final installation are quoted separately unless expressly included in the order.

The purchaser is responsible for confirming adequate property access and ensuring that floors, foundations and surrounding construction are capable of supporting the completed installation.

Final access requirements, component dimensions and installation procedures will be established following approved shop drawings.

Purchaser Responsibilities

The purchaser or purchaser's contractor is responsible for verifying all site dimensions, access conditions, structural requirements, plumbing locations, electrical locations and appliance specifications before production.

Where the island incorporates plumbing, electrical services or appliances, final connections must be completed by appropriately licensed professionals in accordance with applicable local regulations.

Because The Thorpe Island is made specifically for each commission, orders are final sale and cannot be cancelled, returned or exchanged once production has commenced.

Natural Stone

Clean with a soft cloth and a pH-neutral cleaner formulated for natural stone. Wipe spills promptly, particularly oils, wine, citrus, vinegar and other acidic or strongly pigmented substances.

Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, bleach or acidic household cleaning products.

Natural stone may develop subtle changes in tone and patina with use. Periodic professional sealing may be recommended depending upon the selected stone and its intended use.

Timber & Cabinetry

Dust with a clean, soft cloth. For occasional cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth followed immediately by a dry cloth.

Avoid abrasive cleaners, silicone-based polishes, excessive moisture and prolonged exposure to standing water.

Natural timber may display subtle variations in grain and tone and may mature gradually with exposure to light.

Aged Champagne Brass

Dust with a soft dry cloth. Avoid abrasive metal polishes and chemical cleaners.

The aged finish is intended to develop naturally over time. Variations and gradual patination are considered part of the character of the material.

Hardware

Do not force push-to-open cabinet doors. A gentle press is sufficient to engage the concealed release mechanism.

Cabinet hardware may require periodic professional adjustment as part of normal long-term use.
