The Gilded Horse — The Grand Staircase presents the horse not simply as portrait subject, but as the commanding presence within a grand European interior.

At the center of a sweeping marble staircase, a luminous white stallion rises against the shadowed architecture of an ancestral hall. Its sculptural form is illuminated in tones of warm ivory, pearl and soft silver, while an elaborate crystal chandelier glows overhead. Monumental gilt-framed portraits, carved stone balustrades, antique vessels and a geometric marble floor establish an atmosphere of history, ceremony and quiet magnificence.

The composition is deliberately theatrical yet restrained. The pale horse emerges from the deep tobacco, charcoal and antique-gold palette of the surrounding interior, its flowing mane and powerful movement creating a dramatic counterpoint to the formal symmetry of the staircase.

Rather than depicting a traditional equestrian scene outdoors, The Grand Staircase places the horse within the language of architecture, portraiture and the European decorative arts. The result is an imagined ancestral moment—somewhere between equestrian portrait and grand interior painting.

Subtle painterly transitions model the musculature and movement of the horse, while the surrounding architecture gradually recedes into atmospheric shadow, allowing the animal to remain the unmistakable focus of the work.

Presented within an antique-inspired gilt frame, The Gilded Horse — The Grand Staircase was conceived as a large-scale statement work for grand foyers, stair halls, libraries, galleries and other interiors capable of accommodating its commanding vertical composition.

Individually hand-painted original oil painting on fine linen.

Traditional oil painting techniques employing layered pigment and translucent glazing.

Champagne, limestone, muted umber and burnished-gold palette developed to capture the distinctive metallic character of the Akhal-Teke coat.

Fine hand-rendered detailing throughout the head, musculature, mane, tail and anatomical structure.

Atmospheric ground developed individually by the artist through layered tonal application.

Presented in an antiqued, hand-finished gilt frame selected to complement the restrained character of the painting.

Each work is painted individually to order. Natural variations in brushwork, coloration, glazing and surface character are intrinsic to the hand-painted process and ensure that no two paintings are precisely identical.
