The State Chair — Atelier Ébène Bleu brings fine cabinetmaking and deeply upholstered furniture together within one monumental form.

The chair's sweeping exterior shell is enveloped in richly figured Macassar ebony veneer, selected and composed to allow the characteristic dark chocolate, ebony and warm amber striations of the timber to travel vertically around its curved architecture.

Within, broad radiating panels of deep French-blue mohair velvet create a sumptuous monochromatic cocoon. A generous crowned seat continues the same saturated blue, while an exceptionally fine aged-champagne-brass reveal separates timber from textile.

A nearly concealed swivel plinth completes the composition, allowing the substantial chair to appear lightly suspended above the floor.

Because Macassar ebony is a natural material, every Ébène Bleu commission will possess an individual grain composition.

The State Chair is made individually to order and requires specialist handling due to its scale, weight and finished surfaces. Delivery is by scheduled freight service. White-glove delivery may be available depending upon destination.

Customers are responsible for confirming all doorways, corridors, elevators, stairways and final placement areas before ordering. Because of the chair's substantial dimensions, delivery access should be verified carefully before production.

International orders may be subject to additional freight charges, duties, taxes and destination-specific handling requirements.

Dust the exterior regularly with a clean, soft microfiber cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, polishing compounds or household chemicals on lacquered, metallic or patinated surfaces.

For mohair velvet, lightly vacuum using a clean upholstery attachment with reduced suction. Attend to spills immediately by blotting gently with a clean, absorbent cloth; do not rub. Professional upholstery cleaning is recommended for significant staining.

For Macassar ebony, dust with a very soft dry cloth and avoid silicone polishes, solvents and abrasive products. Protect from prolonged direct sunlight and extreme fluctuations in heat or humidity.
