An instrument for the well-traveled home—an antique world atlas revealed beneath the lid of a deep forest-green baby grand.

The SELAH™ Cartographer Baby Grand Piano — Forest Green Edition is inspired by the romance of exploration, historic map rooms, private libraries and the beautifully engraved atlases of centuries past.

Its exterior is deliberately restrained: a deeply polished forest-green lacquer case, slender aged-brass stringing, traditional brass hardware and the discreet SELAH marque. The piano's defining artwork remains concealed until its lid is raised.

Beneath it, an expansive antique-inspired world map follows the sculptural form of the grand-piano lid. Recognizable continental geography is accompanied by restrained historical cartographic details—fine navigational lines, a compass rose and subtle references to the great age of exploration—rendered in warm parchment, sepia and aged-ink tones.

The result is not intended to resemble a novelty “map piano.” Rather, the Cartographer is conceived as though an extraordinary antique atlas had been commissioned specifically for a fine musical instrument.

Closed, it is an elegant forest-green baby grand. Open, it becomes an object of discovery.

Built around a full 88-key acoustic instrument and individually made to order, each SELAH Cartographer is individually numbered for House of Ellory Atelier.

The SELAH Cartographer is constructed as a full 88-key acoustic baby grand piano, with its decorative treatment developed around the acoustic architecture of the instrument.

The exterior is finished in a deep polished forest-green piano lacquer selected to appear nearly black in shadow while revealing its green character as light travels across the case. Fine satin aged-brass stringing follows the architecture of the piano without excessive ornamentation.

The underside of the lid carries a specially prepared antique-inspired cartographic artwork adapted to the exact geometry of the instrument. The map is designed as an integrated decorative panel rather than a generic repeating map print.

The matching forest-green music desk remains deliberately plain. Satin aged-brass pedals and traditional double-wheel casters complement the case, while a discreet SELAH marque and individually numbered SELAH by House of Ellory Atelier maker's plaque complete the instrument.

Available configurations may include Traditional Acoustic, Acoustic with Self-Player, Acoustic with Silent/Digital System, and Acoustic with combined Self-Player + Silent/Digital functionality, subject to technical specification.

The SELAH Cartographer is offered as a Baby Grand Piano, with dimensions dependent upon the selected acoustic platform and optional technology. A typical finished size is approximately 5'0"–5'6" long × 59–60" wide × approximately 39–40" high with the lid closed.

Piano Bench: 34 W × 15.5 D × adjustable 19–22 H inches

Each SELAH Cartographer Grand is individually commissioned and made to order. From the preparation of its deep green lacquered case and creation of the antique cartographic lid artwork through cabinetmaking, finishing, instrument assembly, regulation and final detailing, every piano is created as an individual work.

Because of the highly specialized nature of its construction, please allow approximately 11 months for production. Bespoke specifications or particularly complex commissions may require additional time. Final lead time will be confirmed at the time of order.

Maintain the lacquered exterior using only an exceptionally soft, clean microfiber cloth and products approved specifically for fine piano finishes. Never use abrasive cleaners, household furniture polish, alcohol, solvents or silicone-based products.

The cartographic lid artwork should be treated as a decorative art surface. Do not scrub, polish or apply cleaning agents directly to the artwork.

Protect the instrument from prolonged direct sunlight and significant fluctuations in temperature and humidity. Placement immediately beside fireplaces, radiators, heating vents or high-moisture environments should be avoided.

As a fine acoustic instrument, SELAH should receive regular professional tuning and periodic regulation and voicing from a qualified piano technician. Self-player, silent and digital components, where specified, should additionally be maintained according to their respective technical service schedules.
