A grand checkerboard reimagined with the theatrical elegance of an old European salon.

The Harlequin Rug transforms one of Europe's oldest decorative motifs into a bold yet remarkably disciplined floor composition.

Overscaled diamonds in warm ivory and near-black form the central field, their subtle irregularity preventing the geometry from feeling overly precise or mechanical. A broad oxblood surround gives the pattern depth, while a fine camel inner rule provides a restrained transition between field and border.

The combination has an almost architectural quality, recalling marble floors, historic textiles, and the theatrical interiors of old European residences.

Graphic enough to define a room yet simple enough to sit beneath substantial furniture, the Harlequin is particularly striking in dining rooms, entrance halls, galleries, and dramatic sitting rooms.

Made to order.

Each House of Ellory™ rug is hand-knotted in Nepal by skilled artisans, using time-honored techniques that allow for exceptional definition, durability, and depth of color.

The collection is crafted from a considered blend of 80% Tibetan Highland wool and 20% natural silk. The wool provides body, resilience, and a beautifully tactile foundation, while silk introduces subtle luminosity and tonal dimension as light moves across the surface.

A refined 150-knot construction allows the intricacy of the original artwork to be translated with exceptional clarity while preserving the character inherent to a handmade textile.

Selected designs incorporate hand-carved dimensional detailing, creating subtle variations in pile height that further articulate borders, pattern transitions, and decorative elements where appropriate.

Every rug is individually made to order. Slight variations in color, texture, knotting, carving, and dimensions are inherent to the hand-knotted process and are considered part of the character of each piece.

Custom dimensions may also be commissioned to suit the proportions and architectural requirements of your space.

Because each rug is individually hand-knotted, finished dimensions may vary slightly from the dimensions specified. This subtle variation is characteristic of handmade rugs and is not considered a defect.

For custom sizing, our team will adapt the scale and placement of the design to preserve the intended proportions of the original composition.

Each House of Ellory™ rug is made individually to order and requires an extended period of skilled hand production.

Once your order has been placed, the rug enters production with our artisan partners in Nepal, where it is hand-knotted, finished, inspected, and prepared for shipment.

Estimated production and delivery timelines will be provided at the time of order and may vary according to rug size, design complexity, hand-carved detailing, custom specifications, and destination.

Oversized and bespoke rugs may require specialized freight or white-glove delivery. Any additional delivery requirements associated with particularly large-scale commissions will be communicated prior to fulfillment.

International orders may be subject to applicable duties, taxes, customs charges, or import fees according to the destination country.

Because each rug is made specifically for its purchaser, all rug orders are final sale.

A House of Ellory™ rug is designed to develop character gracefully with proper care.

Vacuum regularly using suction only. Avoid rotating brush heads, beater bars, and aggressive vacuum settings, which may disturb the hand-knotted pile.

Blot spills immediately with a clean, absorbent, undyed cloth. Do not rub the affected area, as rubbing may spread the spill or alter the surface of the wool and silk fibers.

Avoid household carpet cleaners, bleach, harsh detergents, stain-removal chemicals, and steam cleaning.

For substantial spills or periodic deep cleaning, we recommend using a professional rug specialist experienced specifically with hand-knotted wool-and-silk rugs.

Rotate the rug periodically to encourage even wear and minimize prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Natural fibers may gradually develop subtle tonal changes with age and exposure to light.

Furniture should be lifted rather than dragged across the surface. Protective furniture cups may be used beneath particularly heavy pieces.

A high-quality rug pad appropriate to the flooring beneath is recommended to provide additional cushioning, stability, and protection.

Loose fibers should never be pulled. If a fiber or yarn becomes raised, carefully trim it level with the surrounding pile or consult a professional rug specialist.
