Vauxhall Rug
Hand-Knotted Tibetan Wool & Natural Silk
Hand-Knotted Tibetan Wool & Natural Silk
A study in restraint, texture, and quiet ornament, the Vauxhall™ Rug translates the elegance of an antique botanical study into a contemporary hand-knotted composition.
A generous field is framed by a series of finely considered tonal borders, creating an architectural structure that feels at once tailored and timeless. At opposing corners, delicate botanical motifs emerge subtly from the surface—one a fuller bloom, the other a more loosely composed botanical fragment. Their asymmetry lends the design the character of something collected rather than conventionally patterned.
Hand-knotted in Nepal from 80% Tibetan Highland wool and 20% natural silk, Vauxhall is designed to reveal itself gradually. Dense wool provides a beautifully grounded, tactile foundation, while natural silk is selectively introduced through the botanical details and fine border accents. As light moves across the pile, these elements quietly appear and recede, giving the rug a depth that cannot be achieved through color alone.
Subtle variations inherent to hand-spun fibers and the hand-knotting process lend each rug an individual character, while restrained hand-carved detailing brings dimension to selected botanical elements without disturbing the serenity of the field.
Offered in four tonal compositions, each palette explores the same design through a distinctly different atmosphere—from quiet botanical greens and porcelain neutrals to burnished ochres and deeply saturated berry tones.

CRAFTSMANSHIP & DETAILS
The Vauxhall™ Rug is hand-knotted in Nepal by skilled artisans using 80% Tibetan Highland wool and 20% natural silk. Woven at a refined 150-knot quality, the construction creates a dense, luxurious pile with exceptional clarity and depth while preserving the subtle character inherent to hand-knotted textiles.
The design is defined by a generous central field framed by a series of architectural tonal borders. Natural silk is selectively introduced within the botanical motifs and fine border accents, creating a restrained luminosity that changes as light moves across the surface. Rather than relying on strong color contrast, the silk allows the botanical details to quietly appear and recede against the matte richness of the wool.
Subtle hand-carved detailing may be used selectively to enhance dimension without creating an overly sculpted surface. Natural variations in the wool, silk, knotting, pile direction, and tonal character are intrinsic to the handmade process and ensure that no two Vauxhall rugs are precisely identical.
Each rug is individually hand-knotted and made to order, with the scale and placement of the design carefully considered for the selected dimensions.

DIMENSIONS & PLANNING
SHIPPING & DELIVERY
Each House of Ellory™ rug is made individually to order and requires an extended period of skilled hand production.
Once your order has been placed, the rug enters production with our artisan partners in Nepal, where it is hand-knotted, finished, inspected, and prepared for shipment.
Estimated production and delivery timelines will be provided at the time of order and may vary according to rug size, design complexity, hand-carved detailing, custom specifications, and destination.
Oversized and bespoke rugs may require specialized freight or white-glove delivery. Any additional delivery requirements associated with particularly large-scale commissions will be communicated prior to fulfillment.
International orders may be subject to applicable duties, taxes, customs charges, or import fees according to the destination country.
Because each rug is made specifically for its purchaser, all rug orders are final sale.
CARE
A House of Ellory™ rug is designed to develop character gracefully with proper care.
Vacuum regularly using suction only. Avoid rotating brush heads, beater bars, and aggressive vacuum settings, which may disturb the hand-knotted pile.
Blot spills immediately with a clean, absorbent, undyed cloth. Do not rub the affected area, as rubbing may spread the spill or alter the surface of the wool and silk fibers.
Avoid household carpet cleaners, bleach, harsh detergents, stain-removal chemicals, and steam cleaning.
For substantial spills or periodic deep cleaning, we recommend using a professional rug specialist experienced specifically with hand-knotted wool-and-silk rugs.
Rotate the rug periodically to encourage even wear and minimize prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Natural fibers may gradually develop subtle tonal changes with age and exposure to light.
Furniture should be lifted rather than dragged across the surface. Protective furniture cups may be used beneath particularly heavy pieces.
A high-quality rug pad appropriate to the flooring beneath is recommended to provide additional cushioning, stability, and protection.
Loose fibers should never be pulled. If a fiber or yarn becomes raised, carefully trim it level with the surrounding pile or consult a professional rug specialist.
